Task 2- Research into existing products: Short film



Todorov is a theory that acts as a narrative structure that progress through transformations of situations through the progress of disruption 


‘The Black Hole’ short film is an example used to show Todorav’s theory. The short film is based around an office man who discovers a black hole and uses this to his advantage by retrieving free food and money. However, the distraction leads to a bad situation where he gets trapped in a safe as a result of his actions.


STAGE 1- Equilibrium


First scenes, normal work life the balance is right nothing happening to affect it.


STAGE 2-Disequilibrium


Disruption when he prints off the black hole  


STAGE 3-Disruption


When he puts the cup into the black hole and realises what it actually is.


STAGE 4


When he realises the benefits of using the hole he adapts to it by getting free food and money


STAGE 5-New equilibrium


The benefit of the black hole has led to him getting trapped. It’s led to a negative situation where he has returned to normalcy of never having the money in the first place and being a moody colleague.
